dispatch rider FREE Ox& Buck

    Hello


    i,m looking informations about a soldier of Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infrantry.

    a dispatch rider, maybe may be injured in Deauville area

    i have juste his name "FREE" and the unit "Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infrantry"


    do you think it's possible to have information on this soldier ?

    Do you know the date of injury or the battalion he was serving with ? If he was with the OBLI then he'd be a messenger not a Dispatch Rider, you could only be one of those in the Royal Signals as it was a trade unique to them.

    The battalion suffered over 62 casualties that month.

    Hi Ben,

    You can search for soldiers at the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum (SOFO) site. It pulls up 12 men with the name of "Free" with service numbers of 4, 5 and 7 digits. It use to give the Regiment when you clicked on a name in the past but that seems to be gone now.

    This is the only FREE serving with the Ox & Buck's L.I. in the casualty list :

    5378195 Sgt. F.C. FREE 1st Battalion Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire light Infantry.
    Wounded in action 29th September 1944
