    Hello John,

Once you have confirmation that your grandfather was in the 2nd Dorset's then I can recommend the book "Straight on for Tokyo" The story of the 2nd BN. The Dorset Regiment in Flanders, Burma and Japan 1939-47 written by Lieut.Col.O.G.W White D.S.O available from the Keep :

New Book! STRAIGHT ON FOR TOKYO: Review - The Keep Military Museum, Dorchester, Dorset

There is no index in the book and what pictures there are are small so I do not know what quality the reproduction is. I have a first edition signed by the author and it does include a Roll of Honour and list of honours and awards but your grandfather isn't mentioned in the latter.

Please buy from the museum because these resources need the money to survive. :).

    Kind regards,

    Will.

and Will i can get the details from my mothers house but unfortunately wont be back in the UK till next year she has copies of the old dorset reg association mag / books which actually mentions my grandfather in them shouting at soldiers on the parade ground at the keep and i was at the keep about 12 /14 years ago and somebody there located my grandfather in records

I have been told that the book on sale at the Keep is an updated version with more info and photos.I think it has been discussed elsewhere on this site if you want to search threads for more info. Am sure The Museum would post abroad.
