Dunkirk 1940 photos. Some never seen before .

"28" is 5 Inniskilling Dragoon Guards and the Carriers are of the "Scout" variety so probably associated.

The Light Tanks here are almost certainly ALPINE HUT and COMMANDER, the Scout Carriers are also probably from 5RIDG (sorry, I forgot to add the R - Royal - in my earlier post). It would be lovely to see some front views of the Scout Carriers and perhaps get some of their names but there don't seem to be many photos of those niceties. I can see tactical markings on the Scout Carriers for A and C squadron vehicles. Thanks for posting.

These are also tanks from 5RIDG - this time from HQ squadron. It's not possible to see the names in this view but there were 4 Light tanks in this area including HERMES and HORSA. They were later moved from the beach into Malo-les-Bains and, presumably, taken for scrap. Students of the Panzerbeutestabe (I can never remember how to spell this) 2 numbers may have seen these with numbers in the 1200 range, which seems to apply to all of Malo-les-Bains...

These have probably been posted before but I don't recall where.

"Ad Nauseam" was on the beach at Malo. No "28" visible though but the bridging weight style is the same as the Scout next to it.



This looks like Malo too, but the names aren't quite legible.

The blockships were: SS Westcove (sunk 3 June), SS Holland (3 June), HMS Env. Nissan (3 June), SS Gurko (4 June) sunk outside Dunkirk, and SS Pacifico (4 June)
