I found a skeleton Canadian canteen model dated 1942 with a serial number on it. She comes from Normandy and the assigned number would be to a soldier of the Régiment de la Chaudière. But the soldier does not appear to have died in combat, his name not appearing in the register of the dead.
    If someone has an idea.
    The service number is E/9134.

Yes, I can confirm the E 9134 was for the Regiment de la Chaudiere and he the person enlisted in MD 5, Military District 5, which is Eastern Quebec and Labrador.

I’ll see if I can find anything else

I’m afraid that I haven’t any more information. I was hoping I could find their nominal roll on embarkation to England, but those files (Convoy TC.12) are missing from Libaries and Archives Canada’s on line website.

Only other suggestion to to contact the Regiments Museum, who “may” be able to help you. Here’s a link to their webpage

Thank you for your help, I have already contacted the museum of the regiment but without answer. I'm thinking of trying again.

I managed to find another inscription on the canteen and it is a name "Colin" still the name must go with the number.

I was able to find the Regiments War Diaries from Nov 44 to Jun 45, and also Part 1 orders and I did NOT spot E-9134 in them.

Also, May’s records had the Casualty List (sent to all units at the end of the war) and did not see his name. This list includes all KIA and WIA and DOW etc etc. So I didn’t find the number

And that could lead to a deduction on this soldier ?

Also, searched the Last Post, Royal Canadian Legion and I couldn’t find anyone with first OR last name of Colin in the Le Regiment de la Chaudiere

This then confirms that the name Colin does not belong to service number E 9134.

Not necessarily……I couldn’t find any page that confirmed E 9134 and I couldn’t find any page that confirmed the name “Colin”

Until we can find E 9134, we won’t be able to confirm the name of the soldier………

AND, we know he “originally joined” the Le Regiment de la Chaudiere……he “may” have been posted to one of the other French Canadian Regiments in the Canadian Army before he landed in Normandy

So we haven’t been able to confirm anything yet……I’m still looking

Hello, I have the book ¨Dictionnaire prosopographique Militaires Beaucerons incluant le Régiment de la Chaudière depuis 1914¨ and there are 3 soldiers listed in this book with the name Collin but there is not much detail.

    Here is:
    L. Collin, soldier, E-9265. He is in the Régiment de la Chaudière in 1944-1945
    P. Collin, Private, E-42286. He was in the Régiment de la Chaudière in 1944-1945
Alexander Collins, Private, G-640775. He was in the Régiment de la Chaudière in 1944-1945
