As we now have several members who live on or close to these, perhaps they can tell us what there is to see - museums, monuments, cemeteries etc? What about access? Do you need a guide or can you explore on your own? I am thinking of exploring some of these in the near future and would appreciate any leads.
Good question. I vaguely recall reading on one of the gun collecting forums about a museum in Russia with an excellent collection of small arms, both Soviet and captured, but for the life of me can't remember in what city. I keep thinking St. Petersburg, but I may be confusing this with the Hermitage. Perhaps someone will come along and proved the information. Here's one museum site. http://www.armymuseum.ru/ JT

I can't say I have much time for walking around museums here... But some of them are really interesting. My favorable ones in Moscow are Poklonnaya Gora museum (the Central Museum of the great Patriotic War) and The Central Museum of Russian Armed forces. (It's situated not far from my place) Among others I can mark of course Kubinka armor museum. Monino aviation museum and museum of T-34. There are also many other museums in Russia (in Volgograd, Kursk, St. Petersburg), but I can't call myself enough experienced in them... Regards, Alex
