I haven't listened to many of the entries - Canada doesn't participate after all - but I liked Croatia's song, and also Armenia's (which is just a lot of fun).

Nice try, and I do appreciate it, but having let the sodding thing run for 18 years I'm afraid we must all simply accept these dangerous a-musical weirdos now, mate.

    Was humming Bucks Fizz earlier.
    FFS.
Everything here is Owen's fault. And always will be.

It's tricky. This house is watching Dutch TV this evening. I suspect they're hoping that the announcer will use the term "Kutwijf" when entry No.6 appears...Me, I'm off to the workshop to photograph old sparking plugs.

I can't believe it's fifty years since ABBA won Eurovision. The 70s were great though.
    I'm old :D.

    Yes I agree Adam, it's all Owen's fault :-P.

Experienced the ABBA Voyage spectacular on Thursday - a treat for the Domestic Chief of Staff. Lot of Swedes there - maybe escaping this year's offering? Heading back on the Docklands Light Railway, I mused what some of the wartime generation would have made of it all, apart from saying it was a bit loud and pop was 'pricey'. I have just imagined another timewarp where those of that same generation could have watched tonight's Eurovision - 'incomprehensible' and 'alternative universe' come to mind, plus "where's Katie Boyle?" But then, I wonder how many of them knew our dear Katie was born in Italy and didn't come to the UK till 1946.

    Dear Owen
How can you misjudge the German character in such a way?
Yes, we really have learned a lot since '45 in terms of demilitarization and democracy
But our hearts are still beating in lockstep, because 250 years of Prussian brainwashing simply cannot be erased so easily
Pro tip: From 3:50 you can experience us at our best

Well, the Finnish band KAJ won the Swedish Eurovision qualifiers. They are from Swedish-speaking Ostrobothnia, the so-called "coastal Swedes". Well, I don't have time to write more because I'm on a cooling break from the sauna, bastu in Swedish.
