    So sorry to hear this news. I had many replies from Bernard to my posts on the forum. He will be missed by many.

    Sad news but at least Bernard is at rest now with no more struggling for breath.

    The main benefit of bernards time here was his unfailing politeness and often he would be the first to respond, setting the tone and ensuring that the post wasn't missed as can sometimes happen.

    This is the inevitable result of C.O.P.D. and I cannot stress enough to the smokers amongst us to QUIT NOW as Bernard did well to last until aged 88 - and myself who hopes to be 91 in two weeks

    time - remembering that at age 20 I was running the 440 yards in 51 secs with the World Record at 48 sec- to day it is a challenge to walk 20 yards without sitting down for ten minutes to recover.

    My most sincere condolences to the family.
