    Today 54 years ago in 1971 Egypt, Libya and Syria founded the Federation, but it only lasted for 6 years.
    Would the Middle East look different today if it had continued?

    New one to me, unfortunately. I knew of the United Arab Emirates and the United Arab Republic and I guess the fate of the latter helps to answer your question?
