Fold3 is a US Ancestry type site. It is huge and is offering free access to it's world war two records until 31/5/14. Several forum members will already know of the site and I believe some have subscriptions. Most of the records, which include a huge variety of types of documents, relate to US forces but there are also quite a few which will be relevant to some areas of research into British/Commonwealth units. I am "hovering up" anything that I think will be useful and have already made one interesting find - see my new thread on Foden Lorries. Noel
Aha: so thaaat's it?! I just spent most of the afternoon there, unable to figure out how I'd gained free access! Found some great war diary stuff, including my dad's LCI(L)'s arrival in and departure from Oran (Convoy MKS46) when he was leaving the Mediterranean to join the Neptune buildup in UK. Great site.
I tried the site only to find that for the "free trial" you have to enter your card details first. It states, "You will not be billed until your 7-day All-Access trial ends". I went no further. Be warned! Richard p.s. Update. Like John found that I was able to gain access. I only entered my e-mail address and exited when asked for card details, and later found that I could view documents.
