The French 2nd Armored Division (2e Division Blindée) was commanded by the capable Phillipe Leclerc. It began disembarking in Normandy on August 1 and went on to reduce the Falaise Pocket and liberate Paris. I am thrilled to have finally put my hands on a summary of the unit's movements from "Les Grandes Unités Françaises: Historiques Succincts", and have now included them in the Battle of Normandy, 1944 project at VirtualHistoryProject.com. This includes the independent movements of the division's tactical groups (Groupement Tactique DIO, Groupement Tactique LANGLADE, and Groupement Tactique V) One can access the animation directly here.
Use Virtual History Project. That puts you into the Normandy animation. The French 2e Division Blindée will appear on 20 June 1200 hrs in England (blue armor icon). You can use the timeline slide bar at the bottom to move through the animation. Pista! Jeff
