Hi there ! I am making huge research on different US outfit which fought in Italy during WWII principaly on the Winter Line, Anzio and the Anzio breakout. With the time, I have been able to obtain several Intelligence documents from the 5th Army and also the Intelligence reports from the Regimental to Divisional level so I am able to have a complete order of battle, some POW testimony and so on. With all this, I get some barely complete Order of Battle of some German units. I registered for this forum because I discovered some pretty crazy information on a topic created in 2019 on the 3. Infanterie-Division. This division took part in the battles of the WInter Line in November 1943 against the 509th Parachute Infantry Battalion and the 45th Infantry Division. This thread answered some of my questions. Here are some battles I am interested by with the units which faced the units I am interested by. I would like to know if some German units specialist could help me ? In any case, thank you very much for your help Anzio & Anzio breakthrough Grenadier-Regiment 1028 (from February to March 30 and then the month of May 1944) Schwere-Panzer Abteilung 508 (May-June 1944) ARTENA Division Hermann Göring Aufklärungs-Abteilung ‘HG’ Bataillons-Kommandeur : - 5./Aufkl.Abt. ‘HG’ 3. Definitely, but in the above thread, there was truly fantastic answers about the Mignano-Venafro area as well as Aprilia in Anzio. Never seen such things like that!
I'm sure I've got the Devils Brigade that has a detailed book on the La Difensa. Not at my shelf of books The 1 SSF.. A bunch of Americans and Canadians. I'm sure I've got the war diary for the month of Dec 43 somewhere on my laptop. Dec 43- June 44. Rather good on detail. A nice chap sent a link some years ago. David.. Many thanks. Regards, Stu.

Apologies for breaking in on your thread Maczuga: I would be keen on receiving reports (if they exist) of the 5. Gebirgsjäger Division (Dec 43 - Feb 44 - Winter Line).
I was recently looking for those as well. The best that I could find were reports of 10. Armee, NARA T312 R80 to R91. Unfortunately it seems that 5. Gebirgs divisional records after December 43 are nowhere to be found.
Found this having read an account of Hans Jurgen Kumberg on Monte Castellaro/Calderaro in James Hollands Italy's Sorrow He appears to have died in Ontario Canada. Never had the opportunity to read about a German Para who trod the same ground as the British 1st Division on Monte Grande. He began his war at Ortona then Casino withdrawing to Monte Grande in late 1944.
