GIBBS John Douglas L/Bdr 14545344 Royal Artillery (attached 661 Squadron RAF) awarded a Distinguished Flying Medal gazetted on the 1st February 1945 I found a reference to the story in the Lancashire Daily Post 17/3/45. It describes how Gibbs took over control of the Auster after the pilot was wounded by small arms fire. When the pilot regained consciousness he instructed Gibbs on how to land the aircraft, this he did successfully. Does anyone know if this is the only Royal Artillery DFM awarded during the war? Guy
