Hi everyone, My first post so I hope I've posted this in the right section. I've only found out yesterday from a distant family member that my Grandmother's cousin fought in the Royal Artillary and was taken prisoner in France sometine during 1940 (he thought near Dunkirk). I've also found out the following information from his POW records: Name: H. Tolley Rank: General Army Number: 5250571 Regiment: Royal Artillery POW Number: 8879 Camp Type: Stalag Camp Number: XX-B Camp Location: Malbork, Poland Record Office: Royal Artillery (Field) Record Office, Foots Cray, Sidcup, Kent Record Office Number: 5 I'm wondering is it possible to work out which Artillary Regiment he served with from his Army Regiment Number 5250571. I would love to explore further what actions he took part in and his whereabouts during 1940. I will also investigate further if any records are held at Kew. Many thanks for your time and consideration. Regards Adrian
Unfortunately not 5250571 was allocated to The Worcestershire Rgt their allocation was 5239001-5328000.Sorry Verrieres

Adrian, you mean Gnr H Tolley so what you are looking for could be in File No. WO344/320/1 If he made such a report when Liberated. Brian

Hi Brian, Thank you very much for taking the trouble to find out this information. Wow really interesting that he was living at Grout Street, West Bromwich because I've traced our family living at that address back to the 1870's. I'll send you a private message. Kind regards Adrian
