your photo is obtained from the IWM: Daimler armoured car of 2nd Derbyshire Yeomanry, 51st Highland Division, passes through St Michielsgestel, during the drive on Hertogenbosch whilst supporting Infantry of 51st Highland Division, 24 October 1944 see this link RAC and the Yeomanry Regiment file for more Singe
see this link RAC and the Yeomanry Regiment file for more Singe, you've got the badge for Wilts Yeomanry wrong. You've used the Wilts Regt badge, an infantry regiment. Should've used this. http://empiretocommonwealth.webs.com/014a%20Royal%20Wiltshire%20Yeomanry.jpg
This is pic singe ??? Daimler armoured car of 2nd Derbyshire Yeomanry, 51st Highland Division, passes a burning house in St Michielsgestel, during the drive on Hertogenbosch, 24 October 1944.
Singe - are you sure about this info. I saw film shots of the same scene in several documentaries on Operation Veritable and assume this picture was taken near Goch. There are no leaves on the trees, which would have been the case in October, wouldn't it? Am i sure....NO! Having looked at the photo's and not just relied upon my memory, I see that they are in fact two different cars. You can see why I thought they were the same because of the similarities. However I have no other photo's of cars equipped with the petrol cans on the back armour so this looks to be a modification only used by the DY and could confirm the regiment If you can match the location with the church steeple that would be great! will add the photo to my collection and give you a credit for finding it, I note with interest it does not appear in the actual film clip...strange? OWEN thanks for the correction will change the badge in at the next update Cheers Singe
