    Hello Mark,

My name is Liz and my grandad was Spr Dennis T Faulkner who was also with 26 Armoured Engineer Sqn. I found a photo which I originally thought that my grandad belonged to another Sqn before joining up with 26Sqn by looking at the bomb at the front of the photo. But I now wonder whether this is the 26 Armoured Engineer Sqn as there looks like someone resembling a young Major A.E Younger at the front 20240408_122914.jpg (I could be very wrong). So my thoughts are that this photo might be the 26 Armoured Engineeer Sqn. Does anyone recognise any of their relatives? My grandad is pictured middle row 4th from the right with the glasses.
    Kind regards,
    Liz

  4. Welcome to the forum Liz!

The bombs on the photo are a strong indication that the group of men is from 29th Bomb Disposal Section R.E., and not from 26 Assault Squadron R.E.

26 Armoured Engineer Squadron RE is a (very) late war redesignation.

I also cannot find any real likeness between Tony Younger and any of the men in the group photo:

The first step would be for you to request your granddad's Service Record. See here for example:
2664194 Guardsman Evan William GRIFFITHS, Coldstream Guards & 3 Commando: 07/06/1944
