This is the title of a new book in German.
Apparently the book was already published in English in 2015.
    Has anyone read it ?
The price is €48 over here. Worth spending the money and read it?
    Stefan.

The German newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung titles "creeping playing down", and carries on by also mentioning the Charley Chaplin Film" The Great Dictator" from 1940. Closing with the view that the Nazi crimes may be fictionalized by today's fictional popular culture.
    What do you think?
    Stefan.

Stefan - I haven't read the book, so I can't review it or make any judgements on the arguments presented within it. However, essential parts of the review to which I linked don't exactly inspire me to get it.

Apparently Evans agrees with many points made by the author but concludes with:

"Rosenfeld appears to object to depictions of Hitler as a person rather than a monster, in a process he describes disapprovingly as “humanisation”, but he never really explains why this is wrong. Viewing Hitler as a human being, which he undoubtedly was, is more challenging to our understanding, surely, than simply writing him off as a cartoon villain. And yet, in many ways, that is what Hitler and Nazism have become: icons of evil, signifiers of malefaction, beyond any kind of moral rescue, unlike even Stalin, who still has those who defend him by pointing out that he industrialised Russia and defeated the Third Reich.

It is only because it is impossible for our culture, despite the efforts of a tiny and disregarded band of Holocaust deniers and neo-Nazis, to express any admiration for Hitler, that he has become the butt of humour and trivialisation: they gain their effect precisely because we all know that in the end Hitler was evil. Rosenfeld’s book is engrossing and thought-provoking, but in the end it does not convince."

I do like to have my viewpoints challenged and not merely reinforced but if something doesn't, apparently, provide an explanation ... well, I have a growing pile of books already awaiting my attention.

I think hitler and his nazi machine were a runaway war and killing tool. Many books written and attempts to prove/disprove the nazi regime
Based on the blame culture (in this case the Jewish religion) they attempted total genocide of a religion followed by anyone else who was outside of their agenda.
He either persuaded or forced other countries to join his plan(we all know who they were/are)
Most who know ,do not see him and his disgusting following as cartoon or comical characters but the efficient killing machine and the base of pure evil and cruelty.
A total lunatic who managed to convince and in some cases he was outdone by other party members who enjoyed the killing.

Luckily for us he was defeated.
Sadly many millions died before the end of the war.

People do not forgive or forget that time
