    Hi Guys,

An American patron of mine sent me this interesting email, I have cut and pasted his text below, the pictures are attached they are truly amazing.

I thought you'd like to see them, apologies if this is old news!

Lockheed During WW.II (unbelievable 1940s pictures) This is pretty neat--special effects during the 1940's: I have never seen these pictures or knew that we had gone this far to protect us. During World War II the Army Corps of Engineers needed to hide the Lockheed Burbank Aircraft Plant to protect it from Japanese air attack. They covered it with camouflage netting to make it look like a rural subdivision from the air. (Besides everything else, check out the cars.)

    Hi Soren,

My American cousin sent me over those shorts last year and I had completely forgotten about it.
Amazing what went on in those days!

    Blimey.
Superb & somewhat epic piece of camouflage. A colour shot would be interesting.
Maskelyne would have been proud of that bit of deception wouldn't he. Can't imagine the coordination required to put it up right.

Here are some photographs I came across of the "Lockheed Burbank Aircraft Plant".
They were taken during 1940, and they are of the plant covered with camouflage nets to make it look like regular suburbia from the air.
The Army Corps of Engineers needed to protect the plant from possible Japanese air attack... so they hid it.
Anyway I wanted to share them with you all, enjoy...

No I still don't see them but I don't think that you can upload them directly from your mail. Save them to your PC and than attach them to your post or upload them somewhere on the net (like photobucket or flickr).

    Was this after mid 1942?

I would have thought that the chance of an air strike on CA after Midway would have been NIL!

Yes, but two precautions are better than none especially in what concerns those pesky Nips :)

But what photos are you talking about?
