Hi I am looking at the service record of an RAF airman who served with 83 Group through North West Europe from D-DAy to the end of the War. He was a wireless operator and his service record tells us that he served mainly in MSUs, (although it gives no info as to exactly which MSUs he served with) until 04/09/1945 when his record shows him being posted to : HQ83 Group Sigs (u).

I believe that he was being attached as a signaller/WOP to Group HQ but can anyone tell me what the (u) stands for?

    Thanks

    Mike
