How to find 1277 missing photos?

On my website Home - 8th Rifle Brigade, I have one page with a list of 1548 names of members of the Battalion in WW2. Apart from their names, I also have some additional information, including most of their wartime addresses. So far, I have been able to find 271 photos of these men.

Does anyone have tips on how to find more photos?

Maybe good to mention: I am based in Holland, so most research needs to be done online.

I agree. I've been using the archive for a while now and have found 216 articles about men from the 23rd Hussars. Some of the articles are accompanied by photos.

Thanks. First result (though not a photo) is in! I knew the story had been published. Now found the newspaper article!

Checking Ancestry for family trees sometimes turns up a photo - occasionally in Uniform, but it can be hard to match an individual if you just have a name. I just checked Cyril Blades and assume I've found him in a tree (born and died in Driffield) but no photos - you can also message tree creators, but in the few I have asked most are very distant relatives but on a couple I got sent scans of photos and extra details.

Is there much difference between Ancestry.co.uk and Findmypast.co.uk? Is one better than the other. And are there even more (good/better) alternatives?

For general research I probably slightly prefer Findmypast, but for Family Trees I think its only Ancestry that lets you search peoples family trees and if you get lucky they have added photos and notes

I had a similar success searching for the men of the 13th King's Regiment.

Thanks. And no, I wasn't. Looks very interesting (edit: but found nothing). Another challenging project!

117 new names (all from officers and other ranks that served with the battalion only prior to June 1944) and 9 new photos, have recently been added to http://8thriflebrigade.co.uk/officersandmen/, a list of 1665 members of the 8th Rifle Brigade in WW2. Many thanks to all veterans, relatives, friends and others, who have contributed so far!

If you, or someone you know, might be able to add any of the remaining 1385 photos (no longer 1277 ), please get in touch.

Thanks! Not on Twitter myself, so curious to see what will happen.
And, by the way, it's 8RB (8th Rifle Brigade), not BRB... :D

    Fingers crossed.

    Hi

I have just 1 picture from my research. E. Webster killed 2 August 1944.
Not brilliant but a picture nontheless.

    Regards,

    Graeme

Thanks. I know that one. Comes from a newspaper item. If you know anything more about Rfn. Webster, I would be very interested! The full list as it is (currently 1665 names and 280 photos) can be seen at Officers and men - 8th Rifle Brigade

Lloyds Bank, apparently (see posts above), kept a Roll of Honour, with photos, which in non-accessible through the internet. Is anyone aware of similar company Rolls of Honour, and how to access them?

As the 8th Rifle Brigade (originally 2nd London Rifle Brigade) was largely made up of Londoners, I'm primarily thinking of London companies, London transport or London Police.
