I don't know if I am in the right area, but I am sure someone will sort me out. I am researching a Submarine person namely Horatio John Milne who was on the HMS Triton, but previous to that he had a DSM. Is there anywhere you can point me to find out why he got it? Many thanks you amazing people . Linda
It is possible to do a search on the London Gazette where such an award would be gazetted but this can still .be quite a tedious business and having some idea of when he got it would help narrow this down. So it still comes down to requesting his service record.
Horatio John Milne or Horatio John Hinde ? If it`s Hinde SUPPLEMENT TO THE LONDON GAZETTE, 9 MAY, 1940 Page heading for awards of DSO, DSC annd DSM The KING has been graciously pleased to give orders for the following appointments to the Distinguished Service Order in recognition of daring, endurance and resource in the conduct of hazardous and successful operations in His Majesty's Submarines against the enemy: — Acting Chief Petty Officer Horatio John Hinde (Submarine Coxswain), P/J.111862, H.M.S. Wow that is incredible , please forgive me for getting my names mixed up as I was trying to do several things at once, well that's my excuse. You have saved me a lot of time, thank you so much.
