I can relate anything to WWII

    Talking of tanks.......there's quite a large building site not far from where I live. It used to be a lovely, public path, country walk. To keep it all safe/secure there's a fence, but they've also dumped all the foundation diggings, along the path.... building up a significant ridge.

    I was walking the dog the other day and, from behind the ridge, you could hear the caterpillar tracks of some heavy machinery.....and I immediately thought of how completely and utterly petrifying it must be, in war, to be that close to enemy tracked vehicles. Hearing them, so close.........
