Hi, is it okay if I post some pics of some metal miniatures and see if people can ID them? I bought them in a random lots of wargameing figures years ago and never used them so I'm going to stick them on ebay but it would be nice to know what they are.
What I think I've got are a couple of U-Boats (prob WWII), a lend-lease destroyer, a German sub-chaser, a couple of German destroyers, what really looks like a Tribal class but I'm not sure, and another fleet destroyer

Are they the same size as Minic Ships which have been around for years

Thanks for the reply, no idea what Minic is but the U-Boats are ~62mm long and the Tribal/fleet destroyers ~99mm

Hi, sorry to take so long to reply. Busy and so forth. And the models all had terrible paint jobs I wanted to remove. I don't know what kind of paint but some of it has survived repeated days of acetone soaking, scrubbing, more soaking etc.

Anyway, thanks to your links I can make a good stab that what I have are all 1:1200 waterline vessels.

I've two of these, they look very much like VIIc's but they have what appear to be fore and aft single mount deck guns and I can't find any info on VII's that had such mountings.

Could you post pics of the underside markings ? I may be able to identify the range and manufacturer that way.

Sadly the underside markings are just what has been scratched on by a previous owner. They just say 'U-Boat' followed by a 4 digit number '1206'. Nothing to do with the manufacturer as far as I can tell. Obvs I've tried a google but nothing has turned up that made sense to me

They aren't scratchings, they are cast on by thr manufacturer.

I'll get back to you on those. Still in what I hope will be a final soak to get rid of whatever stubborn primer was used on them. Should be ready for a final (please) scrub today and I'll post pics as soon as they are clean

Next up for your viewing pleasure what I believe to be a Tribal Class. And if I may be so bold, looks like it's one prior to the change of X turret and cutting down of rear funnel. 96mm in length. Tribal Class Top.jpg Tribal Class Side.jpg Tribal Class Bot.jpg
