Please can anyone help me as I'm not even sure if this serviceman served in the 2nd world War. All i have is his number on the back of a Bravingtons pocket watch. The number is GS/TI 076127. Any suggestions or other sites would be welcome. Many thanks Tony Baxter
Bravingtons seem to have been retailers rather than manufacturers. This link suggests that Bravingtons Pocket Watches had the letters GS/TP on the back could be: GSTP = General Service Trade Pattern the-watches-of-world-war-ii and watch.htm or try the Watch Forum Showing results for 'bravingtons'. - The Watch Forum When the British Army renumbered all of its men in 1920, most had 7 digit numbers & those that had 6 digit numbers did not go lower than 294000. Army Number Block Allocations
RASC had numbers from 1 to 294,000 As mentioned above the number on the watch is its number rather than the owners, it would have been logged at the time by the Quarter Master (its occasionally noted in Service Books too) but those records will have been long since gone - watches were issued, returned, reissued as required so wouldn't have the soldiers number
