Moved your post to it's own thread AHD.
Seems worth one of it's own to look at options.

That certainly looks interesting, must have a proper browse.

    Some others.
    The mighty Photoshop:
Photo Editing, Photo Sharing | Photoshop.com

    Gimp:
GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program
Does pretty much all that Photoshop can, with a slightly less user-friendly interface (not used for a while, maybe it's improved?) and it's free.

    Paintshop Pro:
Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3 - Photo Editing Software
Think the last version I used was 8.
It's seen as a poor relation to Photoshop, but there are (or were?) some pretty tasty restoration tools in there. always found that really badly knackered pictures were easier with a combination of this & Photoshop.

    Had a play.
That's damned good isn't it - most of the standard tools, and great to have the image resizing/saving toolbox in such a web-handy form.
    I shall be using that.

Over the years I've used most versions of Paintshop Pro, both freebies and full versions, and I prefer it for the majority of functions. Currently I use v5 on my regular PC because I have a full version free registration bundled with my PC LOL.

In times past PSP's sharpening and other recovery tools have indeed been the best, but other packages had distinct advantages in other areas. So I used to use a combination also - cropping in one, sharpening in another etc. tc....PSP v5 at last had a properly working cropper, so I stuck with that.
