    Hi Jim,

I've been trying to complete a family tree but seem to be struggling finding his parents names. I have requested his info from the MoD so will be able to share that when it arrives.
My dad is Ian :) I was around 2 when grandad died so only have a brief memory of him. How is Auntie Jackie? I guess that makes you my cousin!

    Hey Phil .
Yes it would definitely make us cousins. Mum's ok she's had a few medical issues over the years but she is a very strong woman. We lost our dad in 2014 it came as a shock as it was unexpected. We have a large family thanks to nana and grandad but us moving to Scotland made us all drift apart.. it's crap how that happens.
I messaged mum earlier to tell her about the information you had found , but like I said on your post I'm a bit worried about showing her , after all it's your dad's and my mum's dad and it brings back so many memories for her and I don't want to upset her..
Great to talk to you mate.

    Jim

From what I have found in the family tree, Scotland is where most of our family came from! I showed my Dad what I find and he found it interesting and wants to see the rest. So maybe gauge her reaction, start with the debrief and his bit of humour(jack of all trades, ha!). I should call your mum at some point, I can't remember the last time we spoke.

    Cheers, Phil

I seen the Jack of all trades comment and had a laugh myself.

Jim, generally recommended not to post email addresses on forum in case they get harvested by spammers, you can edit it out and start a 'conversation' with Phil - these are private.
