Hello to all, I'm looking for any info / stroke books or photos on the above Mule Coy's. I'm glad I was not a muleteer! Not funny in the mountains of Northern Italy.

    Cheers
    Stu.

Unfortunately, there's no history of the Royal Indian Army Service Corps that I'm aware of, but there ought to be war diaries for the units.

    There is a history of the RIASC in WWII;

HISTORY OF THE ARMY SERVICE CORPS VOL. 4 1939-1946 by BRIG. V. J. MOHARIR

Thank- you for being quick off the block. I've a funny feeling that book is going to be rare as what's it ,& "Bleeding expensive"!
idier, if you can get two copy's? Then fill me in.

I just hope it is not as expensive as the 1st Inf Div. "I live in hope" :(

    Charpory Chindit,

    thank-you.

Spent a few hours this morning, trying to find a copy of this book. No joy what so ever. Any-body have some ideas?
The nearest book I came across, was THE STORY OF THE ROYAL ARMY SERVICE CORPS 1939-45.Is that likely to cover any of the Mule Coy's mentioned? :banghead:

    Cheers Stu.

If I could have found one, I would have been back to gloat!
I will check the RASC history later...

Cheers Andrew, no problem. If I manage to obtain a copy. Will forward on the details. Not sure about the gloating? Like-wise, its good to share. I'm sure you would have given me a link?

I possess (and intend to keep!) a book about the military mule in the British and Indian armies. Not one I would buy often but not too outlandishly expensive as far as I remember. There must be a few copies around as on old friend, now deceased, lent me his copy a few years back. It has a number of photos, but very few captions include the unit name. While there is quite a lot about Italy in the British army part, the Indian army part concentrates on Burma. The title is 'The Military Mule in the British Army and Indian Army - an anthology'. The three parts are by Brian Nicholls, Philip Malins and Charles Macfettridge.

Thanks Chris, came across a copy of that book. I think you have mentioned it in a previous thread. I MUST BE A REAL MUPPET.. Where do I get a copy of the book? Struggled on that. Cheapish I think? 25 sheets may be.
( I intend to share!) Owen started the thread in the 1940 section. Some of them photos have been removed. Not sure why?

    Hi Stu

I think I went to Amazon or Abe Books and found a second hand book dealer who had a copy who was at least in Kent like me, albeit at the other end! My copy is a lot more than 25 pages ; Pt 1 is 215 pages, Pt 2 is 76 pages and Pt 3 is 30 pages! Though bound with a plastic gadget rather than proper binding, it is printed or photocopied double sided and the pictures are pretty clear. But, as I said before, it doesn't have much on Indian Mule companies in Italy.

Hello Chris, thanks for the info. I think I'll stick with a copy of the RASC. See what turns up when it arrives.
