CWGC has his name incorrect as Amighai not Amichai! I have quite a deal of information on this Australian born Airman in the RAF but would welcome any additions or corrections. Any further information would be appreciated. Need assistance on Who/Where/What/How for this man who is on the Australian Commemorative Roll which is for those "Australians" who died in other Allied Services. If proved not to be "Australian" their names will not be removed from the Commemorative Roll however their details will be updated accordingly. I have researched the Air Force members but there are many more Land and Sea deaths in a myriad of different forces. There is not a lot of information on these people that can be accessed easily and I ask your assistance to fill in at least some of the gaps. Hopefully some relatives may see this thread and add more. I will make a different thread for each along the way as they may tend to get lost if clumped together. Geoff My mind boggles at the depth of research you put into your work. This forum is immensely enhanced by your efforts so, keep up the good work and the very best of luck in your research Long may you continue ! Ron
LG 26/12/1941 Pilot On 2nd December, 1941, this NCO pilot was detailed together with 16 other aircraft to attack concentrations of fighting vehicles and mechanical transport. On the way to the target (Hopic Er), he persisted in seeking out the enemy and found a break in the clouds some considerable distance from his target. He flew back on course and carried out a very successful attack from a very low altitude. This is the second occasion on which this NCO has been the pilot in the only aircraft to bomb the target when the Squadron has met adverse weather conditions and there is no doubt that due to his keenness to engage the enemy and persistence to locate the target under all weather conditions, he has been able to cause considerable damage and destruction to the enemy's armed fighting forces. 11th December 1941
I am his grandniece! My dad Amichai Kronfeld (R.I.P) was named for his uncle Amichai Honig. He was the first "Hebrew" pilot in the RAF. He was born in Perth to parents who had been born in Palestine. Amichai Honig
