This forum has meant much to me since I first joined in 2004. Extrovert that I am, it is not surprising that I have never been shy about mentioning my large family which included ten siblings who had nearly all, in one way or another, made significant contribution to WW2. By the same token I have often mentioned Nita,my partner of some 66 years and who I had once persuaded to let me tell her own wartime story on the BBC Peoples War Archives http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/ww2peopleswar/stories/99/a8959099.shtml I now have to announce, with deep sorrow, that the love of my life passed away peacefully on Wednesday the 16th of March this year after a long and debilitating medical condition. I still strongly believe that a person has not truly departed this earth until their name is no longer mentioned and therefore I trust I will be forgiven for using the forum to make this announcement. Ron
Ron devastating news and you have my deepest condolences as I had the same experience just four years ago and just yesterday I planted an Easter wreath in Veronica's memory - which i do four times each year - my local florest no longer asks - she just makes them and delivers them the day before i head off to the cemetery - so best advice - keep working as -having met Nita - that is what she would want. in my religion - we tend to have Masses celebrated for the repose of the deceased's "repose of the soul " - with your permission - i shall arrange this for Nita with my best regards tom canning ps - i too lost a very good friend of many years - just last week - a fellow D-Day Dodger - LT Col Quintin Rhodes of the Ghurka Regiment
I am so sorry to read about Nita's death but glad that you had those 66 years together. My thoughts are with you.
Very sad news Ron. Condolences to you & your huge family. Lucky you to have been married to such a woman.
Quite. Sixty-six years with a person you love is more than most of humanity will ever have. My condolences, Ron. Talk-talk-talk until there's nothing more to tell - and then tell it all again.
Very sad news Ron - you could tell you were a very devoted couple. A few are given the blessing of a long life, but are missed all the more when they depart. We send our condolences to you and your family.
Ron I am so sorry to hear this very sad news. My deepest sympathy to you and your family Regards Clive
My sincere condolences, may the treasure memory of a devoted and beloved wife and mother sustain you and your family in the years to come.
Ron and Family Sincere condolences at this sad news. May Nita live in memory for evermore. Best wishes Steve
With deepest condolences to you and your family, Ron. What a sad time it must be for everyone. Look after yourself.
My family and I deeply appreciate the kind words offered above and in my private mesage box. I allways made a point of discussing such messages with Nita and I know how touched she would have been by your support at this time. Many thanks to all Ron
