Italy 1944/45 photos(updated)

    A friend of mine lent me his dad's army pictures from his time in Italy (Sgt Redford) and thought I'd upload them for anyone interested.

    Thankyou Lesley, can the first administrator to see them please delete one of the doubles and the two pics on one thumbnail as they are both errors on my part, thankyou.

    Hi Derrick, there are quite a few more pictures which I will try to get round to uploading, but of those that have any description on reverse, in the main they seem to be around Venice and Austria. There are quite a few with mountain scenes which I would guess are further south, regimental football game, and some of what look like Rome? In answer to Oldman's question, I did know and forgot by the time I uploaded photos!! Im off to the Somme for 4 days, as soon as Im back will contact my mate and add details,sorry:confused:

    Thanks Paul, I had his pay book and Sergeants stripes in my hand just yesterday, and some military history, took the photos to look through them and forgot to make a note of it all!!! Will amend post next week once Im back from France, regards Sean

    The photo of Centuripe Camp- reminded me of Ronald Tee's book-
    according to Ronald this was quickly named Cherry Ripe by the troops!

    nothing surprising there Lesley, considering how the troops from the first war seemed to rename everywhere they went with easier or amusing sounding English versions of place! Wipers, plugstrret etc etc
