    Cheers Steve.

16 medals awarded to Jewish units within the British Army-Not all of them are from the Jewish Brigade though:

    Hi Jeff,

I know that none of the Jewish Brigade's personnel fell into enemy hands while in action Italy, Churchills of the North Irish Horse being in support both times. Although I think that I had posted an artricle about the Brigade it some while ago, so perhaps I did not . Anyway here it is:.

    With best wishes,

On our recent trip to Israel my wife and I paid our usual visit to the WW1 Museum at Avichail known as Beit Ha G'duddim.

Around the walls of the Synagogue are ledgers containing individual pages concerning every soldier who served in the 38th Batallion Royal Fusiliers and Nita's father who served in that Batallion also has his photo and biography listed.

The image below shows Nita and I in the synagogue with the opened ledger behind us.

We were delighted to find that since our last visit a new wing has been opened at the museum dealing with the Jewish Brigade in WW2 and as my late brother Mick served with the brigade we were asked to provide similar material about his own military career.

    Dear members:

I am currently working on an autobiographical account with a veteran of the 2nd Company, 3rd Battalion, Jewish Brigade Group. The company commander was Major Eissen from South Africa. I am interest in any form of unit history that can provide detailed information on deployment and activities this company saw.

    Thanks so much!

    Lot's of info above.

Unfortunately my dear late brother Mick is no longer around to point me in the right direction so I am limited to what has already been said to date.

Try writing to AJEX who have lots of data held at their museum.

Their senior archivist is Martin Sugarman who is a fount of knowledge and who has helped on many occasions in the past.

The books mentioned below are also invaluable with reference to Jewish military research.

"In 'We Will Remember Them' by Martin Sugarman and Henry Morris, Valentine Mitchell 2011, there is a section on the subject by Martin, of British Jewish and Israeli POW's in WW2 - with references to other good sources. It is worth reading and includes some eye witness testimony. Also in Martin's 'Fighting Back', in the introduction, the even more interesting issue of Palestinian Arabs and others Arabs serving with the Nazis, and further reading on that subject."

The AJEX website is here: AJEX

Thanks so much for the info. I have been in contact with AJEX before but thanks again for the direct contact info for Martin Sugarman. I also realize that there is out-of-print book that former members of the 3rd Bn published but I believe it is in Hebrew.
