I am looking for information on the unit that liberated the commune of Juvigny-sur-Seulles, as well as the precise date in 1944. According to my first research, the first British soldiers entered this village on June 26 and belonged to the 9th and 10th DLI, but they did not hold Juvigny. On July 16, units of the 1/4th KOYLI and the Hallamshire Battalion captured the farms along the Vendes road, in the territory of Juvigny. Finally, on 29 July, the 197th Infantry Brigade (59th ID) attacked from Tilly-sur-Seulles towards Juvigny. Who could give me more information about the liberation of Juvigny? Thank you in advance for any help. Marc
Marc I can't help directly, but have you tried contacting Stephane Jacquet who is curator of the excellent Museum in Tilly sur Seulles?
Thanks for the reply. Not yet, because what I am looking for is first hand testimonies or war diaries. Maybe 197th Infantry Brigade and sub-units war diaries could help if someone has a copy.
