News has been received by Mr and Mrs Albert Monks that their only daughter, Leading Wren Eva Monks (24) has died while on active service in Cairo. She has been serving in WRNS for about four years and has been stationed in Cairo for 18 months. As a girl she attended Whitefield School in Nelson (Burnley) and left to start work as a weaver at Messrs. R Burton LTD. Nelson. BURNLEY EXPRESS 4/11/1944 Unfortunately the text becomes illegible at this point. Her Father had served in the Royal Engineers in WW1. Guy
