Having listened to Phil McCarty's talk yesterday on The Bartholomew Report, the British Army review of the war in France, he referred to a few other examples of campaign reviews: Today I found this report (69 pgs) referred to in a new 2022 article, alo0ng with other WW2 links. There does not appear to be a general Op Torch thread. The US Army Report summary: Link to US Army report: Lessons of Operation Torch Links to cited sources: Phil's talk on: Report: Bartholomew Committee, lessons to be learnt from operations in Flanders and this UK academic article: Amateur Hour Part I: The Chinese Invasion of Taiwan - War on the Rocks The other WW" references are to a 2003 report on the Kasserine Pass battle: https://apps.dtic.mil/sti/pdfs/ADA424990.pdf ; The Italians: Italy’s North African Misadventure ; Operation Husky and the Invasion of Sicily a 2007 USAF article: https://www.jstor.org/stable/resrep13982.9?seq=8 ; the USN After Action Report on Operation Husky: The Sicilian Campaign, Operation 'Husky'
Many thanks for the link davidbfpo. I've only read a few pages, but its a very interesting read. I think we were lucky that this landing didn't turn out to be a complete disaster! I guess the lessons learnt were put to good use in subsequent landings.
Please let me know your address so I can send you the invoice for my blood pressure medication. I went through a fair bit of it reading this. All the best Andreas
