Earlier today. Still hanging on to the tops in The Valleys. Kind regards, Damart balaclava, always, Jim.
It rained yesterday morning but started snowing again around noon. Due to the rain, the snow cover had halved in thickness, but it snowed so much that this morning there was 14.5 cm / 5.7". Oddly enough, 6 km / 3.8 miles away at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport there was 30 cm / 12 inches of snow. Well, maybe there had been less rain or more snow or both. Last night, there was 20 cm / 8 inches of snow in a very small meadow about 800 meters / ½ mile north of us. Today it has been snowing lightly most of the day. The situation yesterday at around 1 pm Due to snow removal, yesterday's day walk turned into an evening walk, the photo was taken about ½ hour after sunset which was at 3.35 PM. Days are getting short here. Just after midnight, the snow situation was more or less the same as 24 hours earlier, the snow had come earlier. At 11 am, there was 14.5 cm / 5.8 inches of snow In the afternoon, there was also a little more snow in the nearby meadow than yesterday At the canoeing beach there was a little bit of crust (very thin layer of ice) already.
I woke up to heavy snow. There is a normally busy road at the back of the house but only a very occasional 4X4 is going past. No buses. Temperature 0 degrees. I have food to last till Wednesday. Mike
Storm Bert has hit the Peak District. Temperatures rising fast, heavy rain, snow disappearing. All rescue efforts should be redirected to Trux !!!
Ark building has commenced. Sou'wester, galoshes, spray decks. Man the pumps. Kind regards, keep bailing, always, Jim.
Storm Bert:- From about 6-00 am, heavy rain and high winds until 5pm on Sunday. The winter market in Gloucester Docks is looking very, very wet. No snow left here. The Canal & Rivers Trust were releasing water from the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal (by Lock Warehouse) into the River Severn in readiness for the anticipated rise in the water level. Let it snow does not apply here.
Snowed fairly steady here in Franklin county, PA. But it only laid mostly on the grass, about an inch, except for some mountain roads which they had to salt. It’s pretty, and I have a good Honda snow blower, but I personally don’t care if I don’t have to use it.
Hello Half Track I usually don't mind snow and snow removal, I do it with a shovel and nowadays partly with a snow scoop. Forests, lakes and snow in winter are part of this lifestyle. Now I am annoyed that in a way I've done some futile work, because the snow will disappear in a couple of days due to warming and rain. But today was a beautiful winter day. Last night the nearest meadow Our backyard at noon, 17 cm / 6.7" of snow Photos from afternoon walk
The weather here seems to be alternating between versions of 'white & freezing' A fortnight ago 3 days of freezing fog Then snow off & on for 3 days Now a 2nd day of fog
Is it cold with you? We had a night of quite heavy snowfall last week - temps dropping to -5, and then it all warmed up - snow's gone
Been sub zero - overnight frost has lingered in spots well into the afternoon. Dog loves walking on the crispy vegetation, hates the rain but more of that due soon. I'll be glad when this fog goes. We're prone to it in our area but it has blanketed all NI. This is not resent, but the best way me and my son go in the snow. Especially up in our favorite spot in the mountains.
Strange that we're just over an hour's drive from the mountains yet we've had similar weather to UK. Been a lot of chatter about Dunkelflaute. Same for our dog - she's talented at slaloming into dry areas and pulling to get back home
