Does anyone know of any sources of info on this regiment or the following batteries - 237 Anti-Tank Battery and 239 Anti-Tank Battery or , 43 Light Anti-Aircraft Battery and 44 Light Anti-Aircraft Battery. This unit was part of 1 Armoured Division under 1 Armoured Support Group in France.

I have the available war diaries . The regiment was became the 76th Anti-Tank Regiment in October 1940 but I'm particularly interested in any info that relates to their time fighting with the 2/6 East Surrey's around the 7th June near Aumale.

    Cheers

101 Anti-Tank Regiment did not exist until it was formed in December 1942 (see war diary reference WO166/7121) and was disbanded in August 1943, not having left the UK. It was created from the 8th Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment (see war diary reference WO166/8788)

The Regiment name you refer to that was with the BEF in 1940 should be called 101 LAA/AT Regiment. This was the unit that had the AT and LAA Batteries you refer to in your first post and became 76 Anti-Tank Regiment in October 1940.

I presume the BEF war diary you have is the one below:-

I made a similar mistake when I thought 102 LAA/AT Regiment was the unit my Dad joined in 1940. There were a small number similarly titled, which led me on a wild goose chase for several years. It even led to the CWGC incorrectly recording casualties on their website, at least a hundred of which I managed to get changed. 101 LAA/AT was also one of these dual titled units.

    Hello,

Retired French Gendarmerie officer, I carry out research concerning the fighting that took place in the region of Saint-Valery-en-caux from June 10 to 12, 1940

I'm searching informations about two BEF gunners in 1940 belonging to the 101 LAA/AT Regiment killed in France on June 11, 1940 and commemorated in Dunkirk.

    It is:

    -2nd Lieutnant R.F HINCHCLIFFE - number 85550 - 237th battery
Son of Robert Hinchcliffe, and of Lily Hinchcliffe, of York. Awarded Scholarship to Royal Military Academy, Woolwich.

-Gunner Ernest Frank NEY number 1431415 - 43rd battery
Son of Mrs. R.M. Ney, of Ilford, Essex.

One of these two men could correspond to an unknown English soldier buried in the communal cemetery of Le Hanouard in Normandy.
Trying to identify this unknown soldier, I remain at your disposal for any request for information and / or information

    Thanking you in advance
    Cordially
