    Hi,

Long shot here. The above pilot flew a tour with No.38 Squadron in 1939/1940 he then falls off the radar. Was a NCO pilot, promoted to A/P/O in April 1940. s/n 565686 - 45648. Looking at my notes, its seems he 'may' have been one of the pilots ferrying Winston Churchill about.

Can anyone help with this, struggling!

    TIA

    Steve

Have a peek at CRELIN ARTHUR WALFORD BODIE - Ipswich War Memorial Alas it defies cut & paste and screenshot. It refers to his marriage in October 1945 to a late colleague's wife (who was in 66 Squadron) and gave his address as Limes Avenue, Bramford, Suffolk.

Possible postcode IP8 4BN, three miles north-west of Ipswich.

Perhaps the local parish councillor in the road can help? See: Contact

There is a local history group: Bramford Local History Group |

Promotion to Flight Sgt. from 24/4/1941 in Gazette 23/5/1941; note uses both service numbers: https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/35171/page/2945/data.pdf

He was involved in a prang 1/3/1940, when serving with 38 Squadron. Very little detail: 38 Squadron Prang 01/03/1940 They were a bomber squadron, with Wellingtons throughout WW2 and no mention of the prang or their bases(s) location. See: No. 38 Squadron RAF - Wikipedia It did have a number of RAAF personnel: No. 38 Squadron (RAF) The most detail is on: No. 38 Squadron (RAF) during the Second World War

I did search with both service numbers and his surname, nothing else found.

I don't use genealogy sites, hopefully someone who does will be along.

I wonder if he is not British, possibly Australian?
