Three legged type (you dashed imp you! There's nothing steaming here!!), sat in corner of ring, bucket of water.blood, snot, Adrenalin, next to it (which would never be thrown!)

Now, lest I get chinned for heading off topic, and whilst resisting all temptation to mention old Spike Milligan jokes, back to the thread.

    Kind regards, always,

    Jim.

P.S. "Seconds out", dung! (or should that be ding?)

DavidW, an excellent book, and for me the starting pace for all interested in LRDG.

Things (information available to the public wise) have moved on a lot since and I would recommend the one below. A very recent publication and fascinating to boot. History combined with a contemporary travelogue. And, even if you only find one thing within of interest, for me it's still worth every penny, and will answer many questions for you, as it has for me(even questions that may not have come up yet!)

    Good luck with your searching.

    Kind regards, always,

    Jim.

    Thanks Jim.

does it have anything on the early composition of the Heavy (M/H) Section?

It does David. Just one snippet by way of content example below from page 29 in the "Desert Vehicles and Weapons" chapter.

And I'm not being coy (about the content) but as it's a relatively new publication, still in print, and easy enough to obtain, I'm reluctant to use any more content (for those reasons, not to mention copyright).

If it was out of print, ancient, never going to see the light of day again (publication wise) and rarer than hens teeth and likely to become forgotten in the sands of time I'd be less reluctant about posting stuff from it up, but as before, it is still readily available for purchase. I don't think you'd be disappointed in having a copy, truly.

Anyway, (steps down from soapbox) here's the aforementioned bit.

    Kind regards, always,

    Jim.
