Having checked the England & Wales death indexes for 1930 - 1947 the only possible match is a Margaret Knott who died aged 47 in qtr 3 1943

Without more info, I'm inclined to think that this is Margaret Bertha Knott, of Brandon Road, Watton, who died on 29 August 1948, age 30. Birth and death both registered at Wayland, which is the correct district for Watton. Parents were Harry Knott and Beatrice Rosamond Leggett, married at Wayland in 1915. If correct, this puts her death outside the qualifying period for WW2.

This is the DC for Margaret, death registered by her aunt E M Thomson. It names her father as James, although the Brandon Road address seems to match the 1939 Register entry for Harry and Beatrice Knott.

Agree - only 2 margaret knott in Air78

Margaret Goode nee Knott was married Stockport first quarter 45 and associated records point to this area.

Leaves 2012950 Margaret Bertha Knott which links to the info you have posted for Watton/Wayland.

Service number is in the WAAF block starting May 1941 but will have been a quite later entry.

Thanks Ross, I've tried again using the service number and they've found it indexed as KNITT.

I now have a copy of her service record. She enlisted on 26/08/1941 and was discharged on 04/02/1945, physically unfit for Air Force service.

The dreaded spectre of TB which was such a big killer back then Paul. Antibiotics came in too late for Margaret. A couple of years later and the drugs were saving folks, curing them no less (On which I have a very personal perspective):
