Hi, Lack of campaign medals suggests a late war conscript who served for a short time before 2nd Sept 1945. Only had to serve 28 days to earn War Medal. Not strictly a National Serviceman as the term is usually applied to men “called up” in peacetime - albeit wartime conscripts were called up under the National Service Act 1939. You ought to be able to find his BEM recorded in the London Gazette. Steve
