Another component for that display I'm working on.

I've just received the photograph of the completed blazer badge I ordered from Chris Gold at Wire Blazer Badges UK, which I'll now unapologetically plug.

Military Badges Archives - Blazer Badges

As you can see from the site, they provide badges for various groups, units and associations, military and otherwise, but they also offer individual bespoke badges at an introductory price of £24.99 plus postage.

The badges are hand-made from gold and silver wire and silk thread; if the company does not already have a reference badge, they're able to reproduce one from any reference photograph you can provide. Production time is about six weeks depending on workload and complexity.

This site is the only place I've ever found a photo of a badge for my grandfather's battery insignia (not regiment), and frankly, they've improved on the original and produced a much nicer version than I had hoped:

I've always wanted an Argentine Malvinas medal for my collection of Foreign medals across the years. As a little Christmas present to myself I acquired one yesterday. This is the War Combatants Medal issued by the Argentine Nation. It was instituted I believe in 1984 and then re-issued in the early 1990s for other participants not included in the first issue. These included the Military Police and Coast guard etc.

I have been looking for a decent British Falklands group for a few years now, probably a Naval or Marine based entitlement (3 or more medals), but this is proving expensive every time one comes by. So I thought I would recognise the efforts of the opposing side as a start of my collection for this campaign.

Apparently, some of the surviving Argentinian troops nicknamed the medal in good humour: The Runners-Up medal.

NB: the image below is not my actual medal.

Another couple, although not worn by my grandfather: FARELF badges with an interesting provenance: from the former C.O. of 2GR, whom I believe to still be alive in his 90s.

ALFSEA and SEALF used identical insignia prior to FARELF.
