My grandfather was a b25 pilot with the 428th squadron based out of Corsica during WWII. I was wondering if there is a database of call signs and/or photographs of the planes. The mission reports list his plane as 7529 but that's all I can find.

He was with the 428th from January-July of 1944. I found in the War Diaries from July '44 that Gilbert was a co-pilot for at least one flight toward the end of my grandfather's time. Probably the start of Gilbert's time. Maybe the plane was eventually sent to the 381st. I wonder if planes kept their nicknames when transferred to other pilots, or if it got that name when assigned to the 381st? Looks like the Chinook might be it.

Ok, I was confused about the squadron thing. That is the right plane though! Thank you so much for your help! Do you know if Gilbert named it the Chinook or if it already had that name?
