Thank you Hugh for your reply. I will have another go at M.o.D Glasgow to see if they can come up with dad's Maritime Card - you never know.

P.S. Re my previous post 'Orion was having an altercation with HMS Revenge not an auto cation'. Grammar/spell check doesn't always help!!! Perhaps the outcome would have been the same,

    Thank you all
I have been able to already track all my fathers trips during WW2 and Convoy Web. As you already state, there may not be additional benefit going deeper. I did also get his Seaman's pouch. I think the story of the Revenge incident is already well told. Dad was also on Oronsay at St Nazaire and Narvik which is another story
    Regards

    Hi Neil,

Yes Narvik and St Nazaire is another story and one which I am most interested in - did your dad write anything about that part of his career?

Hello Roy. No my father said very little about his career or the war. I have spent the last year or so putting the pieces together. Most information on these 2 events is freely available, but I am happy to assist in what I know about Oronsay's actions, Regards Neil

Hello Neil, Thanks for your prompt reply. I never pass up an opportunity to get information about those two events as there is not as much information available as there could be. Regards, Roy

if he served as dems gunner he may be missing a campaign star

39-45 star is for 6 months service ashore or afloat in war zone

if he was still afloat I would expect him to have one of the campaign stars

I would go back to the medal office with his ships convoy numbers and ask them to recheck

    regards
