I recevied in the post this morning, the missing pages (10 - 15) from my Gt Uncles Officers Service record book. On page 11 titled "Extra-Regimental Employment" under the subtltle "With expeditionary force" are the following lines 1085/13/ME/I HQ.NWA 27/09/43 - 6/2/44 AG6/MEF d 9/3/44 18/3/44 - 16/7/44 CIEME 31 Armd Div 16/7/44 - 27/10/44 27/10/44 - 28/7/45 I am hazarding a guess as my initial internet searches have not shed any light 1st Line: References Middle East, Indian HQ NWA (what does NWA mean?) 2nd Line references and order of posting to the MEF 3rd line is Indian Electrictical and Mechanical Engineers but I dont understand the "C", I have seen this a few times, could be referencing his rank (Capt). A more fundamental question is, why did these lines appear on this page, away from other Particulars of service? Any help gratefully received Stephen
NWA could mean North West Africa, but thats just a guess "C" means Commander, if its the same as CREME = Commander Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers. can't help with anything else, sorry.
Or it could mean North Western Army Thats an interesting suggestion as there is a scribble on the back of of one of the photographs. I jotted down in my research notes weeks ago that it looked like Rawalpindi. This is aligned also with the information on Wiki_Link Quote: "North Western Army was formed from Northern Command in April 1942, formed to guard the North West Frontier. It controlled the Kohat, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Baluchistan and Waziristan Districts." My problem now is that his MSR has him in Colaba, Bombay during this period. hmmm!! Doesnt get any easier!! Thanks for finding, This never came up when I was searching earlier
