Caribou Died 14.10.42 Age 24 Commemorated: Canadian Book of Remembrance NOT FORGOTTEN The above were In From the Cold Project cases. Both men died when S.S. Caribou was torpedoed (Volunteer: Chris Harley)
Both have known graves at Port Aux Basques (St. James) Cemetery, Newfoundland. Harold Taverner is buried with both his father Benjamin (Master of the Caribou) & his brother Stanley (Chief Officer of the Caribou). Harold's rank as Chief Officer is in error & should be listed as 2nd Officer. Have asked for an amendment to this end.
