Hi there New member here Matt D Researching my great grandad Alf Blyth 6284754 Buffs 2nd Battalion 31-38 (including Palestine) Military Police 104 Provost Company France 1940 12 Corps Signals 1944-45 NWE and also becoming more and more obsessed/ interested in World War Two generally. Got his records from the MOD and now looking forward to visiting Kew with my annual leave in June too look at unit war diaries.
Welcome aboard Matt, good luck with your research, you’re certainly in the right place, I’ve learned loads from the guys and gals here. With any luck, members stolpi and Sander Janssen may be able to help with any information about 12 Corps and Limburg.
If you have the records it may pay dividends to post them here - when you are ready in the area for such research: Searching for Someone & Military Genealogy It is possible this website may have threads on the three formations you name, even if the Buffs predate WW2 (hence PM sent to you).
Welcome. From the casualty list: 6284754 A BLYTH W/Cpl / 12 Corps Sigs wounded 16.11.44 The lists do not provide any further information but his records may have a reference to xii list for the same
Thanks Tony - very helpful yes his MOD service and casualty records say the following: 2E21/3973/44 12th corps signal wounded (slight shrapnel wound and shock - mine explosion) 16th nov 44 then posted to XII list -any idea what this means by list ? then it’s says 2E21/4021/44 12th corps sig Ref Corp PT II order 3973/44 (not sure what these numbers mean) add nature of wounds BW (mine) face, hands left and eye right On the statement of services it also says wounded in action NWE 16/11/44 shrapnel and shock PII 21 AG 12 Corps 3973/241 BW mine 12 corps 4021/2711
xii = evacuated on medical grounds X lists (Service Records) | WW2Talk Forget these, 2E21/3973/44, army codes.
