This year(i am told) the passes will have name and photo. Some navy/marine types going this year tried to get passes thru Navy League and were told it was to be by lottery and very few for old vets. Guess the Washington types are getting the pick.

    Hi Charles
Nice to hear from you, as my email to you was rejected twice as, address not recognised, or something similar. So I posted it, broken down as two separate messages, as private messages on your CP ( and they're still there!).
I'm in touch with a stateside contact who is shepherding a party of vets to Normandy on June 4, and their families, plus a few Generals. I've sent copies of passports for inclusion on her list, but all seems to be very hush hush (SNAFU, as usual I suppose). I'll pass your comments on to her, but it won't cheer her up :(.
    Regards
    Les

Thought you people might like to know that It is rumoured that not only veterans, but close relatives of deceased veterans, may get help with travel, according to the Daily Mail. Have to ring the Lottery fund hot line 08450 000121
The article here, hope its not a April fools joke !!! D-Day heroes' £183,000 'thank you' to Mail readers | Mail Online

I have been trying to convince successive Governments for 16yrs that they should be helping the Children who grew up without their Fathers.

Many of us could never afford to visit such places as Egypt,Lybia, and Burma that are off the main Tourist routes.
I am one of the fortunate ones who has made the trip to visit my Fathers Memorial at El Alamein (which is about 1,000 miles from where he Died) with no help from anyone. Many never will be able to do so because of the Finance Involved.
Have you looked at the prices T.R.B.L. are charging for a trip to El Alamein.
