I’m new to this forum so please forgive errors in form and format. I’m trying to gather information on the North Atlantic convoy which sailed in April 1944 from Liverpool to New York. Specifically, details on the ships involved and any possible incidents. This was an ONS convoy, possibly including the MV Delftdijk, a Holland America Lines ship. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Many 5hanks.

Use Convoy web. I found that ship in

    Convoy ON.231, Liverpool to NYC,
Depart Liverpool on 7 April 1944.
Arrived NYC on 24 April 1944.

Click on the link below, it will bring up the convoy info, with all ships etc

Arnold Hague convoy database - ON convoys

Here’s the page on this link......its a LONG page, so had to screen shot it in 3 pieces

Many thanks! My friend was a passenger on the Delftdijk on that voyage and will be thrilled with this information.
Is there any source that describes any incidents on convoys?again, many thanks!

    Hi
I have an A 4 file "convoys to Russia", by Bob Ruegg & Arnold Hague.
Allied convoys and navel surface operations in Arctic waters 1941-1945.
103 double sided pages and pictures,
    I do not want it.

Stephen, I was able to find the War Diaries of the American ship “PLEIADES“. This ship was part of Convoy ON 231. I can post the information on this site for you OR, if you contact me by this site PM system, we can share e-mail addresses and I can then send you the pages directly.

I haven’t looked thru them yet (will do that now) to see if their was anything “unusual” on this Convoy......I’ll let you know what I find

    Cheers

Stephen, I went through them, nothing much to report. Heavy weather on 19 April and convoy scattered, but then reformed by the end of the day, and on 13 April 44 the ship reported 4 explosions, but didn’t know what it was from. I’ll post the pages below

Just to let you know, if you wish you can actually “plot” the Lats/Longs of the ship on Google maps and map out the route the convoy took. If you need help, let me know......

    Cheers

    Your welcome.

Found another record. This shows HMCS Sault St Marie arriving New York with 59 ships. She was “one” of the escorts to the Convoy. I’ve given you the cover page of the report (to show its New York) and the record page

HMCS Sault St Marie was the Senior Officer’s ship of Escort Group W-7. Commanding Officer at that time was A/LCdr Arthur Moorhouse, RCNR.......I’ve also attached a photo of HMCS Sault St Marie below
