Official History of 1st Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles June-September 1944

It's taken a while but having recently met the spritely Major General Purdon thought it appropriate to finally add the official history for 1 RUR's action in Normandy post D-Day to the website at:

had lunch with the Colonel of the RUR from Normandy on the 60th anniversary of D day, at The New Inn Church Knowle, Purbeck Dorset. Saw action with them in Normandy. Great lads. It was the Colonels birthday on June the 6th. HIs men told the Colonel that the Germans' were sending him birthday presents......
