    Cool - goede reis!

Ha! Tim Saunders... plundered my book for photos, used exactly the same, even used my cropping of the photos, even used my maps... shameless!

Apparently took "Operation Plunder" literally :D

Hi Alex - Just a question regarding 6-figue grid references. I noticed you have put one on the Bislich map. Can I ask how you found the grids? As I am trying to locate the grid references/locations mentioned in the war diaries? This example is taken from the 6th Royal Scots diary when they were near Xanten - On reaching the bank Coys "debussed" and after short pause for reorganisation made off for objectives as follows: A Coy - RONDUIT 132442, B Coy - areas 137441 - 135445, C Coy - area track juncs 136435. Thanks in advice you can help.

Hi - I wondered if anyone could help with finding a location of 44 Lowlands pre-Op Torchlight, Buffalo training with 11 RTR in HOUTHUIZEN grid ref 5872. I tried the 15th Scottish maps but couldn’t find it. Thanks

Not sure about the map prefix which would make sense of the grid number, but it could be here. The training was on the Maas/Meuse, I think?

    Hi All

Thanks all for the comments. The map attached is the area, so I have the town, but not the actual grid. Obviously the crossings for the exercise will be somewhere along the river bank adjacent to HOUTHUIZEN. There were two Ex Buffalo, one daytime and one nighttime.

    Hi

I have found the map. It’s on the Maeseyck map on the 15th Scottish War Diary collection. This Houthuizen, as it appears that there are two towns of this name, matches the 4-fig grid ref of 5872. However, the current Google maps doesn’t actually have the town name anymore, but at least I can get the location using the grid ref. Thanks for those who assisted, much appreciated.

Mick, sorry if my post was not very helpful. I did some research on 44th Brigade's actions after the crossing, when they pushed for the Gervershof bridge. I'm away from all of my notes, though.

    ww2talk.com/index.php?threads/the-push-for-the-gervershof-bridge.96315/

Folks provided some helpful links in that thread, if it's of interest to you.
