The only survivor? And a very lucky man!

Welcome, going to visit the battlefields coming Tuesday

Philip will you be taking your camera along? I'd be interested to see some photos of the area.

    extra shilling a week,

Thankyou for the reminder and I hope some day you find the location of your Grandfather's crashed glider.

Matt, there are some modern photos of the area on Panoramio, some of which are quite striking

Hamminkeln and Area, Germany - Panoramio

This one, for the example, is just north west of Hamminkeln in the area where I believe my Father ended up on that fateful day.

    Hamminkeln, Sonnenuntergang

Sadly none of the commenters on the photos are aware what took place in those fields long ago.

Cee, many thanks for the link, very interesting. The link of where your father ended up is a superb shot, very fitting I feel.

Will take the camera, and the detector along Matt :)
Philip, I'm sure there's no need to tell you to be careful with that detector! Enjoy your trip, hope the weather is kind to you.

    Matt
